Car-free day: free public transport in Vitoria-Gasteiz on Tuesday 22 September
European Mobility Week is from 16 to 22 September and is the European Commission’s main awareness-raising campaign about sustainable urban mobility.
The 2026 mobility week is focused on making sure all people have sustainable, safe and fair access to transport, no matter their income, location, gender or abilities. Thus, the theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Mobility for Everyone’.
Different activities have been organised in Vitoria-Gasteiz, including bike scavenger hunts, a bike ride for the whole family, a talk about car sharing and a critical mass ride, along with holding the car-free day (22nd). Public transport will be free on the TUVISA bus network and on the Vitoria-Gasteiz tramway during the car-free day on Tuesday 22.
Euskotren recommends that passengers planning to travel by tram check the times in advance using the official APP or the search engine on the www.euskotren.eus website. Passengers can also call 944 333 333 for further information.
