A landslide disrupts the rail service between Elgoibar and Mendaro

Body

• The repair work will last 10 days.

• ETS is providing a bus transfer service between Elgoibar and Mendaro.

A landslide on the embankment on the section of the railway line between Elgoibar and Mendaro has forced Euskal Trenbide Sarea to suspend the rail service between the two towns for the next ten days until the repair work of the affected area is completed.

The landslide, that was discovered yesterday afternoon and caused by the weather conditions, has blocked the track bed and brought the Euskotren regular service to a standstill in this single-track section.

Transfer by bus.

While the track is being repaired and starting today, passengers will need to use the bus transfer service, from Mendaro station (towards Bilbao) to Elgoibar where they will continue by train, and from Elgoibar station (towards Donostia) to Mendaro stations.
