People with reduced mobility (PRM)

ACCESSIBILITY AT STATIONS AND HALTS

All ETS stations, except Bermeo and Zumaia are adapted to people with reduced mobility. Therefore, 79 out of 81 stations/halts are accessible. There is good accessibility between the train/platform at them, with no need for ramps. Access is via the PRM door with no ramp located in the centre of the train (indicated with a blue circle).

Other elements to facilitate accessibility:

  • Accessible information panels and screens
  • Indicator of the point at which the PRM accessible doors are located.

ACCESSIBILITY AT STATIONS AND HALTS

  • Elimination of architectural barriers.
  • Flooring with tile path to identify the safety area.
  • NAVILENS system. Installed in the Line 3 stations, and on Line E3 (Kukullaga Etxebarri-Lezama) and in part of the Lasarte Oria-Hendaia Line E2 stations (Topo). This solution is based on a new signage (similar to QR) where passengers can use a mobile device with a camera and internet connect to read signs from afar and in any type of lighting or reading angle. Among other things, it is digital signage that is accessible to everyone, can be updated in real time and remotely; it is available in 33 languages, including in Basque, which only requires the AhoTTS application, a text-to-voice conversion system developed by the Aholab research group at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), to be downloaded. Once installed in the mobile telephone and with the application open, the QR codes can be read by a person when moving and they therefore do not need to be carrying their mobile. The reading ability has a range of up to 20 metres and without needing to focus. Anybody interested in trying this initiative should first download, free of charge, the NaviLens app. The application is available for IOS and Android.
